Sometimes I wonder why I've been working so small. Certainly it would have been wiser to specialize in miniatures when I was much younger, and had better vision and, especially, steadier hands. But this is not strictly a miniature, though small enough to cause me grief at times, at 6" x 8".

These colors are so vivid and real, thanks for sharing what you're doing here! Are miniatures harder than bigger pieces? Is there a relationship between the amount of work in a painting and its size?

Depending on style, and all else being equal, a larger painting allows for not only a larger space to cover, but that much more detail to fill that area. A painting that utilizes realism or even impressionistic realism can normally only hold so much detail when small, but hold much more detail when large, even when the limits of detail are not pushed as much as in the smaller.
