End of day 3
Plaster model complete @ day 6, 10/18/2011
It turned out to be more time consuming than I'd anticipated. Part of the reason is I started with the feathers delineated which turned out to give me less freedom of design than I would have liked. The feathers were a constraint; something I will have to keep in mind in the future.
Here is the beginning of "Unicorn Utopia" after an hour or so. 9/27/11
End of day 1. 9/28/11
End of day 2. 9/29/11
Complete on third day
This was my Chinese Dragon, done about two years ago. We're going to convert it to a more whimsical articulated piece.
Step 1. A plaster casting was made from the Chinese Dragon mold and all the details have started to be shaved off. 9/10/11
Finished shaving off all detail. 9/11/11
New designs being etched. 9/12/11
continuing on 9/13
completed model "Dazzling Dragon" 9/19/11

This is a 6" x 8" elliptical plaster model. Shown is at four hours. 9/7/11
Here it is at 15 hours. 9/8/11
And completed at 22 hours. 9/9/11
First cast on 9/12
This was a custom order to be modeled on another manufacturer's design. I stipulated I would use the overall shape but it would have to be my own rendition of detail. Step 1 on 3-29.
Step 2 on 3-30
This was done in two phases,as many of the ornamented pieces are, and at left is shown the first.
About 2/3 into the second phase.
End of first day.
This has been renamed Ornamental Love and here is the first casting. It measures 4" x 7 1/4"
And his buddy Fishy Freak
6 1/2" x 4 1/2"
This one is perhaps my all time favorite. About the same size as the one above. These will make a great pair even if one isn't a fish lover.
First Castings. These are both close to the same size, about 4" x 6" and 4 1/2" x 6 1/2"
