November 9, 2012 My Greyt Greyhound needed a partner to sell as a pair.

November 7, 2012 My step son recently was married. I provided some eighty to ninety wedding favors in the form of small stones with an undersea, and primarily mermaid and shark, theme. The reason for this is...well, you would have to know him to understand the mechanism by which his mind operates...his last name is --uh, was, Marks. His brides' Sherman. So if one does a little imaginative shuffling of letters, one might--I said might--get Merman Sharks. Now this is the same person whose "Flying Fish" blog, "Flying Ghoti" (gh as in enough, o as in...I forget, ti as in attention) yields "fish". Anyway, mermaids and sharks... October 10, 2012 The Raven theme with its constant "birdie" next expands in to arena of steampunk. What had been my Steampunk Sunface (shown below) got its sun face removed and replaced.
September 19, 2012 After molding the Birdie, I placed that model on a new plaster blank and carved the Maryland state flag. This became my main Baltimore Raven piece which proved to take no time at all to prove itself in a top percentile of popularity in sales of all my pieces. It currently ranks in the top ten though it is still relatively new. Introduced in October, over forty sold before the Superbowl. Here is the model:
September 17, 2012 It was at the Bel Air Festival for the Arts that I noticed half the visitors were wearing Raven shirts, a number of exhibitors were selling signs that said "Man Cave" or some such elevated artistry, and at 1:00 pm the crowd thinned noticeably for the start of the game. I had never been much interested in sports as a subject for my art, save for a few drawings I had done, but the entrepreneur in me couldn't help but wonder if it would be productive to approach this new (for me) subject and retain the main elements of my current carving style. This little Raven birdie would be the start of a series of Raven items that would soon evolve. This is the little plaster model I carved the following day:
August 8, 2012 Camouflage is a fantasy creature in a tree, though I have to say most folks mistake it for a cat. But where, I ask, has anyone seen a cat with ornamental horns and a bifurcated tail?
August 17, 2012 Pictured here is my cast stone sculpture, Run Rabbit Run. My original design was hand-carved, and this example cast from a mold I made of my original plaster bas relief carving. The intricate embellishments are my own injection of a fantasy element. It is about 6" by 9" and weighs almost two pounds. A metal hook is embedded in the back, and it can be hung indoors or out.
August 15, 2013 Pictured here is my cast stone art sculpture, Stunning Stallion. Riding alone on a horse he called Music With a song on his lips, and a tear in his eye... August 1 2012 Just back from a wonderful Grapehounds Wine Tasting Festival at the Finger Lakes, New York, where wine tasting at dozens of vineyards and Greyhounds lounging with you at the wine bars or at restaurants is what it's all about, including a greyt hike to a wonderful waterfall with hundreds of greyhounds and their owners. This inspired my first greyhound incised etching along the same style lines as the zodiac pieces.
