It was at the Bel Air Festival for the Arts that I noticed half the visitors were wearing Raven shirts, a number of exhibitors were selling signs that said "Man Cave" or some such elevated artistry, and at 1:00 pm the crowd thinned noticeably for the start of the game. I had never been much interested in sports as a subject for my art, save for a few drawings I had done, but the entrepreneur in me couldn't help but wonder if it would be productive to approach this new (for me) subject and retain the main elements of my current carving style. This little Raven birdie would be the start of a series of Raven items that would soon evolve. This is the little plaster model I carved the following day:
